First residency

Arts mediation

First Residency is a free immersive experience for children and young people with which children and adults can discover how a performance is created and who is behind it: artists, technicians, stage management, production, etc.

Each school year, a resident company at El Canal designs an activity that combines a participatory tour of the centre’s spaces with a practical performing arts creation workshop.

Sònia Gardés (visual theatre and contemporary puppetry) invites participants to meet “Irina”, a puppet created specifically for this activity. Irina, a former worker at the textile factory of Coma Cros, returns to the building and discovers a performing arts creation centre: an ideal starting point for opening the doors to the imagination and the craft of object theatre.
